Cranio-Sacral Therapist

About me:

I am an Oxford based Massage and Craniosacral therapist

I started my journey in health and well-being in 2007 when studying for my diploma in craniosacral therapy (qualifying in 2010).

This is a beautiful and gentle, but deep practice that is suitable for all ages from birth through to end of life.

I also offer holistic massage, a blissful way to relax and recharge, releasing tension in the whole body as well as therapeutic deep tissue massage - a deeper level of physical touch which can target specific muscle groups and areas

If you are looking for some intentional healing of a specific condition- either chronic or acute then Ens, Cosmodic treatments could be what you are looking for. This is a safe and effective natural healing tool that uses electronic frequency to support the body to repair and return to health. .

I have a background in occupational therapy and have worked as a healthcare professional in mental and physical health settings as well as working with people who have learning disabilities.

Massage works with the soft tissue in your body such as muscle, tendons, ligaments, and fibrous tissue, to ease tensions and pain

Holistic massage is a wonderful full body treatment, providing relaxation and an overall sense of wellbeing by relieving the build up of day to day tensions and stresses

* a great general de-stresser

Deep Tissue Massage is brilliant for targeting specific areas/ muscles that are tight and tense, as well as for those who prefer a deeper level of contact.

Compression, longitudinal and cross fibre muscle work is applied, with increased pressure on areas that require it - I may use my elbows / forearms as well as fingers thumbs and heel of my hands to access the deeper mucles. The 'deepness' is entirely dependant on your comfort levels and a dialogue is encouraged to tailor the massage to your individual needs and preferences.

Craniosacral therapy:

I trained at the college of craniosacral therapy and I generally I work in a biodynamic style - tuning in to the crainosacral rhythms and allowing the body to guide me to areas of restriction.

I can connect in a more goal orientated focus for particular areas of discomfort, using a more bio-mechanical approach, but with the understanding that the whole body is connected so the work for one part of the body may take place from another.

I work with hands on the body, holding in various positions, you will remain clothed throughout so it's important to wear something comfortable.

Ens Cosmodic and Scenar therapy... what is it all about?

Scenar technology - the name is an acronym for Self Controlled Electro Neuro Adaptive Regulation

This was invented by a Russian man called Alexander Karasev, and the first Scenar device was developed in 1985 for soviet astronauts to use should they become unwell when they were in space. Since then, it has been widely used across the globe as an aid to promote and speed up the healing process.

The scenar device uses electronic frequencies for biofeedback and amplifies the data received to send a signal to stimulate the brain to attend to/ repair the target area.

The amplification of the symptoms as a method of provoking increased healing, is effective but can be disruptive to the body, causing a healing crisis. .

Cosmodic technology. The name Cosmodic is a reference to the word cosmos meaning 'all encompassing'

Dr. Karasev wanted to make improvements to Scenar, and as such, he went on to develop Cosmodic technology.

This new evolution of technology works with the central nervous system by signalling the direction of healing to stimulate restoration without needing to amplify the symptoms. The brain then responds to this feedback and distributes the correct hormones and nutrients to rebalance and restore cellular function where it's needed.

Ens technology, like the Cosmodic, works with cellular regeneration, but with this development, Karasev has made it possible to use the device without the need to access the central nervous system. This technology uses the skin to access the electromagnetic field and transfer information. This is especially helpful in acute emergency situations.

I work with the latest model - the ENS plus. This device combines all of the technologies in it.

Essentially it a natural medicine that uses electronic frequency to support the body to heal itself.

I have been trained by Vivienne Constad who is one of who world's leading practitioners and official representative of Alexander Karasev. Vivienne has been working with cosmodic since 2001 and has a vast knowledge of the device and many health conditions.

What to expect

• When we first meet, we will start by taking a full case history - talking through what has brought you to this therapy and details of your general health and lifestyle. This consultation will take around an hour and will help inform what other support you may wish to implement outside of the sessions.

• I will then use the Ens Plus take readings which assess where the body requires treatment. The device works with the central nervous system and the readings assess taken along the spinal column so you will need to remove the clothing from your upper body to allow access

• Once the readings are recorded I will work on the areas that the body has indicated are in most need and we will also work either on the afflicted area or on the opposite side of the body if this is too painful to work on or if it is not accessible - ie. you have a cast or a dressing in place.

• The first treatment should never be longer than 30 minutes but subsequent sessions may be longer or shorter depending on what the body needs - the treatments are led by the body's requirements.

In order to get the best from your treatment you will need to support your recovery with good nutrition and attention to your emotional wellbeing.

This is important to note - unlike medical models - with natural medicine YOU take an active role in your healing.

FAQs

How many sessions will I need?

• This is a common question and as you might expect, it variea from person to person

• Generally speaking a course of treatment will be between 12 - 14 sessions

How often will I need treatments?

• If you have an acute injury, then daily treatments are recommended until there is a change or until the body signals that it needs a break.

• If the treatment is for a chronic condition then bi-weekly is recommended. This is because the device has relayed a signal to the brain to attend to the healing and initially the body is only able to retain this information for 3-4 days. Multiple sessions are needed before the body fully absorbs this information.

• Once the course of treatment is complete a three week break is needed to assess where the body settles with no input from the technology.

How soon after an injury can I receive treatment?

• If I can see you within three hours, the recovery is full and happens quickly - this is the optimum time frame for the first session.

• If this is not possible then the advice will always be - the sooner the better

How long does a session last?

• Allow 2 hours for the first session and then up to 1 hour for the follow up sessions

FAQs continued…

ow much does a treatment cost?

• The first session is £150

• Subsequent sessions are £70

Does it hurt?

• The short answer is no...

• Recovery does not have any sensations. Injury and illness have sensations (pain/ discomfort) to alert the brain to send nutrients and hormones to repair the cells. Wellness on the other hand does not need to signal any instructions to the brain. If you think about when you ave a headache - you are aware of when the pain starts, but not when it leaves.

• There may be some sensations during the treatments - tingling and warmth may be felt under the area where the device is placed.

• You may feel sensation in other areas of your body such as temperature changes or a feeling of relief from tensions - some have described feelings of having received a massage for the deepest muscle layers. It is very personal and therefore different for each person and for each session.

• On very rare occasions the area where the device has been placed may exhibit some discolouration from toxins that are released from the body.

Do I need to prepare for a session?

• There is nothing specific that you need to do for the session

• Good nutrition and hydration help any healing process so this is always advisable

• Wear comfortable clothes that allow access to any areas of discomfort and remember that I will need to gain access to your spine to take assessment readings and carry out treatment
